Literacy

Literacy is an interesting topic for discussion in almost any setting I believe. The different manifestations of this idea spring up everywhere. You experience it when you talk to your friends, recall the directions to a location, interact at work, and even when you read this blog post. However, talking about literacy can be a hard thing to do. It's sometimes difficult to explain a natural interaction even if we give it a name. I find it extremely difficult to talk about on my own because the intricacies of the subject matter are not among my immediate interests. To me, literacy in its most primitive form is understanding; understanding others and being understood. This idea will be prevalent in my upcoming literacy project most likely. I need to do some more thinking on the matter however as I am at a standstill about the direction I want to continue in. More on that later I suppose.

A bit of introduction is in order I believe.
My name is Kyle Irvin and I'm currently a student in the study of physics.
Hobbies include music, long drives, video games, reading, and working on my dark matter connectivity theory.
Not a whole lot more to say right out of the gate.
This blog will be under monitor by my English professor as part of my work.

College

First semester of college ended on a high note. Anticipating the next semester because my weekend starts at 4:45 on Wednesday. Curious to see how things go.

Also starting up a D&D game as DM with some friends and 2 chicks, imagine that.

College.

So yea, having a little bit of a hectic freak out over this whole getting ready for college.
All kinds of things popping up I wasn't aware of and things I have missed. So ready to get it all out of the way and just head out.

What a joyous day.

Helped my older brother move today. It is sad this recession is hitting him so hard, especially since Izzy isn't even 1 year old yet. I worked my ass off today. Had no idea I was in for a full day's work when I told him I would help. I wouldn't take any pay though I was happy to help. He did buy me lunch at least.

What sucked was not having hardly anyone to talk to all day long outside of him. We get along and talk just fine but when you're both doing something you try not to be too talkative between each other.

I am so wiped out. I'm glad to be home where I can worry about less.

Observation of the day: Business owners will gouge prices almost anywhere they can. I can understand wanting to turn profit but you should at least be able to do it without shitting people who have no choice. Some people sicken me.

Getting in Shape.

So I need to get in shape. I have no idea what I'm doing. However, I have committed to at least walking every day for no less than an hour with preference of going further than that and I have been changing my eating habits a little bit at a time. Need to find somebody who knows about these things to help give me some advice.

The real challenge will to stay motivated. I think I can do it. I want to better myself.

FFA Meeting

I went to my school's FFA meeting this past evening. It was pretty interesting I suppose. We had our guests from Japan there and it was really exciting meeting someone from a country so far away.

After eating a good dinner we all piled into the theater for some games.
Needless to say I volunteered at one point and ended up with a box with a small window cut into it tied to my ass. In the box were about 15 ping pong balls and the object was to, without your hands, get all of the balls out of the box. I shook my ass so hard the box's end flew open and half of them spilled out that way. Good times.
